Regained - Game #80, Sea Witch and Lion, distribution of pain (in which Amethyst tried to break the game and I'm kind of sorry he wasn't there)
I almost want to apologize to Amethyst for this, since this is...not entirely a sig-pos currently, and it's the only thing that's breaking up two sig-negs. It was when it happened, so I listed it as such, but...at least it's not a bad one per se. More like a notable-pos or triv-pos in terms of how it affects him in Aather. Because Mark already knows some of the ways in which the life Galen had planned for him wasn't as awesome as it seemed at first. (Though as far as how fucking abusive Galen was, he has no idea yet. He might soon, though, because I am prioritizing some memories Because Of Reasons. :D)
Anyway! The actual write-up is going to be fairly short for once, because offscreen memory.
NO REALLY I'm spinning off of those two line here. So Mark had already begun to suspect, through his childhood (which he got back recently), that he existed for some other purpose than being spare parts, and this validated that. A destiny! A purpose! He has a line somewhere in Brothers in Arms, which I'm not going to dig up right now because I'm lazy and doing lots of writeups today, about getting a unique chance: rather than getting cannibalized by his progenitor like every other Jacksonian clone, he would get to flip that around and take over his progenitor's life and identity.
This doesn't cover any of Galen's training, but I believe it would cover Galen's name and appearance and the very basics of the plan. So he knows that he's a clone of Miles Vorkosigan, created to replace him and take over the Barrayaran Empire, in revenge for Barrayar's brutal and horrific invasion of innocent neighboring Komarr, insert propaganda here. He wouldn't know details yet.
Mostly this memory is a blast of ADOLESCENT ENTHUSIASM and PURPOSE and DESTINY and AVENGING WRONGS and I KNEW I WAS SPECIAL AND NOT GOING TO DIE HORRIBLY AND THIS PROVES IT. \:D/ Which coming on the heels of his last memory, and at a later point in his life when he already knows how much he hates playing the part of Miles, gets dampened a lot.
+ Ser Galen, name and appearance, as well as names and appearances of some of his (unnamed in canon) co-conspirators and lackies.
+ I was created for a plot to replace Miles Vorkosigan and take over Barrayar. The details are still fuzzy.
